Colorectal Cancer

Preventable. Treatable. Beatable.

Each year more than 140,000 people are diagnosed with colorectal cancer, often referred to as colon cancer, in the U.S. and over 50,000 people die from it annually. The disease, however, is largely preventable with regular screening and is treatable with early detection.

The American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy is proud to bring you www.screen4coloncancer.org, a web site dedicated to educating patients about colorectal cancer and what can be done to prevent it.

If you are over 50 or have a family history of colorectal cancer, talk to your doctor about getting screened today. Screening saves lives.
Catch a Killer: Get Screened for Colon Cancer

Starring CSI:NY actor Hill Harper. The PSA reminds African-Americans to get screened for colon cancer. Guidelines suggest that those at average risk begin screening at age 50, however, some studies have shown that African-Americans are more frequently diagnosed with colon cancer at a younger age, leading some experts to suggest that African-Americans should begin screening at age 45.
